REALM WALKER is the first book in the Realm Walker series by Kathleen Collins. I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Juliana Norris is a Realm Walker with the Agency. The agency she works for sends her out to retrieve paranormal creatures who cause havoc. She is the best at her job and the job is extremely dangerous. It is so dangerous, that she has died a few times, but no one knows why. Her supervisor doubles as a father figure and she has been unofficially adopted into his family, including his wife and their twin sons. Seven years ago, she was secretly mated to Master Vampire, Thomas, then left to fend for herself. Juliana overcame many obstacles to continue on with her life, forming relationships and becoming the best Realm Walker in the Agency. Now Thomas is back, demons are loose and those Juliana cares for are being targeted.

Overall, REALM WALKER is a good beginning to the series, but it was slow to start and somewhat confusing. I was left wondering at the beginning if I had missed something, making it feel like the 2nd book in the series. Once things began to pick up, the book could not be put down. If not for the slow, confusing start, this book would have been a 4 star read.

REALM WALKER is definitely more Urban Fantasy than Paranormal Romance. I am okay with this. In fact I prefer Urban Fantasy, but if you are expecting PNR, you will be disappointed. Although there was a slow and confusing start, I still recommend REALM WALKER and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Now that I am "caught up," The story should fly from here.
